The Watermill Hotel

The Watermill Hotel – Hindu Wedding & Reception

The Watermill Hotel is a lovely, relaxing and tranquil wedding venue in Hemel Hemsptead. The Watermill is built around an old flourmill on the banks of The River Bulbourne, surrounded by beautiful meadows. This is what made it the ideal wedding venue for Sunil & Neha.

The colourful landscaped gardens and the River flowing through the property provided me with wonderful backdrops, especially for the couple photographs. It was the perfect setting for their Hindu wedding. They started with a Gujarati breakfast for the guests. This was followed by the traditional Indian wedding ceremony & there was lots of partying for the evening reception. It was such a joy to photograph Sunil and Neha and get to know their families and friends. Please have a look at a few of my favourite phots from their wonderful wedding.

Hilton Wembley

Hilton Wembley – Mansi & Vishay’s Hindu Wedding

I first met Mansi & Vishay on their pre wedding shoot, in a park near Hampstead Heath. The Heath is a great place to take a couple as a wide range of images can be taken  in any of its varied locations, such as The Hill Gardens & Pergola, Parliament Hill and Edwardian style garden, where overgrown vines and exotic flowers are set around a beautiful pond. It is definitely one of London’s hidden treasures! We had a lovely time taking photos and chatting about their big Indian wedding to be held at The Hilton Hotel, Wembley. I had not worked at The Hilton before, so was very much looking forward to it.

The Big Indian wedding at Hilton Wembley

The hotel is set in a fantastic location next to the iconic Wembley Stadium and Wed-in-style had done a great job setting up a beautiful mandap, under which the ceremony would take place. Vishay arrived in style in a white Rolls Royce to the sound of drummers, his friends and family dancing and announcing to the bride’s family that the arrival of the groom meant that the ceremony would soon commence. Meanwhile, upstairs, Mansi was being dressed in her beautiful wedding outfit. Her makeup was by the very talented Gini Bhogal Gini and I both agreed that Mansi looked a lot like Angelina Jolie!
The couple had a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony with lots of fun games included. After a delicious vegetarian wedding lunch (thanks to Ragasaan), Mansi & Vishay said their farewells to family and friends and drove away to get ready for the evening reception. It was such a joy to photograph this couple and get to know their families and friends. Please have a look at a few of my favourite pics from their magical wedding.

Sikh Wedding

Sikh Wedding at Gravesend Gurdwara & East Wintergarden

What an amazing couple Gurpreet & Suresh are! Not only were they a joy to work with, they both have such lovely families. Arriving at the bride’s house at 6am, I was immediately offered Indian tea… it’s my favourite and the best way to start the day!

Their wedding took place at the beautiful Gravesend Gurdwaras. Owing to the usual British weather, we were unable to do the Milni (where the groom’s family is welcomed by the family of the bride) outside, and so had to move it indoors. After breakfast, a good helping of samosa & pakoras, we were ready for the Wedding. There was lots of chemistry between the couple making my job easy. It turned out to be a long day. In the Sikh tradition, a Doli is performed after the wedding and the bride changes into new clothes presented to her by the groom’s family. She then departs from her parent’s house to the Groom’s, where songs are sung as she is welcomed into her new home. We finished at 9pm, a 15 hour day, and when I got home I had to prepare a slide show for the following day’s event…who said photography was easy?!

The Reception was at East Wintergarden in Canary Wharf. It was incredible. Loved the elegant decor and great lighting! It was a fun evening with plenty of dancing including the usual cake cutting, first dance and speeches. Here are a few from their wedding and reception. I will be posting up plenty more soon.

Froyle Park Wedding

Froyle Park – Wedding

This Hindu wedding was absolutely awesome and full of energy. So were the couple! However, the weather was not on our side at Froyle Park, so it was certainly a challenge to document two wedding ceremonies and a reception party for Bhavesh and Surbhi! We started off in the morning with the colourful Hindu wedding and then, after an outfit change and a few glasses of bubbly, we continued with an elegant civil ceremony. In spite of it spitting with rain a little, the brave couple came outdoors in the gardens at the back of Froyle Park to take some lovely couple photos! Here are a few that I have picked out. Plenty more coming soon!

Kim Gray - Gorgeous – as usual Sam!

Kim Gray - Beautiful work, Sam, and just what I’d want for my Indian wedding!
